Event-Driven Automation — Plane, Woodpecker, and Discord Webhooks

Modern software development involves a fragmented ecosystem of tools: issue trackers for planning, Git repositories for code, CI/CD runners for testing, and team chat channels for communication. In many organizations, synchronizing these systems requires constant manual effort: moving tickets between columns, pasting commit links into chat, and checking build dashboards.

To eliminate this operational friction across my self-hosted platform, I designed an event-driven feedback triangle connecting Plane, Forgejo, Woodpecker CI, and Discord. Lightweight webhooks synchronize project state, trigger automated testing, and broadcast actionable alerts in real time with zero human intervention.

Our automation architecture forms a continuous triangle connecting three core domains: Planning (Plane), Execution (Forgejo & Woodpecker), and Observability (Discord). Each system emits structured webhook events when its state changes.
